Asbarez and its continuous fight for the betterment of Armenians in Los Angeles.

Flipping through the pages of Asbarez, or scrolling through its website, readers are completely immersed in Armenian culture. They are exposed to the issues in the Armenian community both in Los Angeles and overseas. Much like other forms of ethnic media, Asbarez advocates for the Armenian diaspora and connects them to their ancestral homelands. The way Asbarez advocates for its community is unlike the role of the African American press and the Korean press. In those situations, the press acted as a lifeline to help the community and keep them informed during times of great duress, like the riots.

The way Asbarez advocated for the diaspora is more similar to the role the Spanish language DJs played. Just like how they promoted a rally against immigration laws, Asbarez promoted March for Justice, a demonstration in front of the Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles. The march is set up to achieve the goal of genocide recognition. They also advocate for the special needs children in the community by promoting a new sports team for children with any variety of developmental disabilities, like autism. These stories would not be found in mainstream media due to lack of interest of the general public.
